His Sheep

A malnourished sheep

In the flock of a loving Christ

Who we know leads us

To pastures are forever green

But our eyes are taken away too deep

Into comparing what we have seen

Our heads forever raised

Checking on who’s grass’ greenest

Never having time to feed

As we are led by greed

To focus on others’ pasture

From the east and the west

While he leads where waters are still;

We are not willing to drink it still

Wanting only where we can steal

Or where we’ll labor for it and feel.

With it, our thirst never to quench,

Our stomach never to fill

We know his voice

But are too busy with noise

About the sins shame invoice

As if in his flock are novice

While it should be time to rejoice

Coz’ of His cross’ choice

When he uses his staff

To remove the unwanted stuff

We are up on our sleeves, not to weave

To leave as we feel love’s deprived

And believe he’s out to make us aggrieved.

Forgetting by His blood He achieved

To have all our sins and shame reprieved.
